How To Make DIY Lush Bath Bombs
Who doesn’t love a bath bomb? Spending time relaxing in a hot tub can relieve stress, relax muscles and restore the body and mind. Don’t forget to take a good book into the bathroom with you, set up some music and light some candles - and remember to add a luxurious bath bomb!
If you have ever dreamed of making your own bath bomb, either to give as a gift or for yourself? You will be surprised by how simple they are to make. All the ingredients are easily accessible and safe to use. It is also a perfect family activity and can be great fun. If you are planning on getting creative with very young children, make sure they are supervised as you will need some citric acid to create the fizz effect, and this can cause irritation to the skin.
It is up to you whether you want to go for a full-on psychedelic rainbow bath bomb or opt for a more elegant, relaxed vibe. As long as you have the basic ingredients, you can add any extras you choose to give it a special personal twist.
To give the water a silky feel, add cornstarch. By adding goat milk powder, you can increase the foam. For fun with slime, add sodium alginate. Get creative and create the bath bomb of your dreams!
Plastic mixing bowl, Mold, Kitchen scales, Rubber Gloves, Cold water spray
Baking soda, citric acid, coloring, essential oils - choose your favorite fragrance or use a combination
To make your own bath bomb, first you will need to put on your gloves, then measure 300g of baking soda. Add this to the bowl with 100g of citric acid and mix together.
Next, you need to add your coloring and mix it in quickly and thoroughly.
Add your essential oils to the mix and stir. Spray some water a little at a time until the mixture starts to stick together when you squeeze it.
Push the mixture into the molds. How many you can make will depend on how big your molds are. When you're making these for the first time, you could use an ice cube tray and make lots on mini bombs.
Wait 30 minutes or until they are hard, then remove them from the mold and leave them to dry completely. Store in a sealed container and wash the mold right away so the acid doesn’t erode it.
